Hard to believe it's already August. Fall will be here before we know it, and nothing pairs with those chill winds like a rich and hearty stew. Sometimes the simplest choice is the best choice.

The Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1 Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 Garlic Cloves, finely chopped
  • 4 cups Water
  • 1 8 oz can Tomato Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Beef Base
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • (Optional) ½ tsp Celery Salt
  • (Optional) ¼ tsp Ground Marjoram
  • 5 Carrots, cut into rounds
  • 4 Potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup Green Beans
  • 3 tbsp All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 tbsp Water

    The Step-by-Step

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir Ground Beef, onion, and Garlic until beef is browned (5 to 7 minutes). Drain grease to preference.
  2. Stir in Water, Tomato Sauce, Beef Base, Worcestershire Sauce, Pepper, Celery Salt (if applicable), and Marjoram (if applicable). Bring to a simmer then add Carrots and continue to simmer until tender (about 35 minutes). Add Potatoes and Green Beans and simmer until tender (about 15 minutes).
  3. Mix Flour and 2 tbsp Water together in a small bowl until no lumps remain; add more water if necessary. Stir mixture into stew and simmer until stew has thickened (5 to 10 minutes).
  4. Enjoy!
